Dumpster Diving: I'm going deeper underground!

Tonight I fundraised 2 nice blankets from the refuse bin in from of my house (living in 10 m from the Opera House has its advantages :)). I am promoting this way of fundraising food for AEGEE events. I am thinking on going on with this - usual visits with other people to the Fehervari u. market and contributing to the revealed Free Shop at Tüzraktér.
I am going to experience dumpster diving in Berlin as well. This is not a new way of life, as lots of homeless use it every day to survive. Any person can do dumpsterdiving on everyday basis to satisfy his/her needs and possibly help others in need.
I keep on walking...

Critical Mass. Budapest 2009

Today the Orthodox celebrate Easter, while in Hungary Critical Mass is taking place. A gathering of the bicyclers in Budapest and other cities in Hungary aims at attracting public attention to the problems of motor vehicles and public transport, such as air pollution, traffic jams, car accidents, noise etc. Moreover, Hungary is not as advanced in terms of the conditions for bicyclers compared to the Western European countries such as Germany or France where bicyclers can enjoy numerous bikeways without risk for their lives. Even though Budapest has several of those, but sometimes it is impossible to reach them, as they are occupied by the cars due to lack of parking space. Moreover, bicyclers are forced to choose whether to squeeze among the cars during the rush hours on majority of avenues (especially Erzsebet körut), or to go on pavement among peacefully walking people.
Therefore, Critical Mass is gaining popularity and tends to attract more public attention, which is a positive development, as more people may change cars to bikes. This is especially up-to-date during the times of crisis. At the same time it is not that effective and is rather ignored by the authorities (except for the police) and tends to become a mere pop event with lots of fun and picknicks (as some consumerism is also involved there - T-Shirts and other symbolic are sold during the event)...
Let me see and write my observations after the end of the event.

From Russia with Hate

This started in the beginning of 90's, right after the collapse of the Soviet Union. A number of people from ex-Soviet countries started moving to Russia in search for better life with more opportunities. This caused incredible growth of nazi and skinhead movements in Russia. Nowadays these movements are growing like mushrooms and getting stronger day by day. The nationalist movements and moods are getting more political support in Russia... Check the 2007 video by CURRENT TV >>here.

Crisis is Overtaking the World

The first part of 2009 was distinguished by an increased activity in the world deriving from various aspects of the economic crisis. In this brand new blog I will take an overview over random events that constitute parts of the whole puzzle. This is rather an introductory statement, the 'flesh' will follow.
For the beginning - some links from my Hungarian blog:
